Legislative Session Week 5

Week 5 - here's what is happening.

Hello Folks,

Many thanks to those of you who helped out with action items last week. At  this time no more phone calls or emails are necessary.
(Don't forget to join us for golf this Thursday in Orlando!! Click here)

Here is a quick recap of what is happening in Tallahassee:

  • The tangible personal property and commercial ad valorem tax exemptions are well on their way to victory this session. The bills have passed through the house and are scheduled for a floor vote, and they have one more committee stop in the Senate. click here
  • The amendment language to change the NOC threshold, and the amendment that could address the significant backlog in solar permitting is in the hands of the bill sponsors, Dane Eagle and Travis Hutson, and we are hopeful that the sponsors will do the right thing and help cut red tape for solar contractors. No phone calls are needed at this time, but please stay tuned.
  • The bill to allow for 3rd party PPA's will once again not likely not get a hearing this year. click here.
  • FlaSEIA has filed in the Supreme Court against Consumers for Smart Solar and we will be fighting them on their disingenuous attempt to enshrine the false assertion that non-solar customers are burdened by solar customers in to the Constitution of the State of Florida. click here
  • Finally, if you are a solar business and you are reading this, please ask yourself: "is anyone else in the world fighting this hard for my business and to grow the solar market in Florida?" And become a member today.

Please call me or email me with questions.
