CREBS general obligation bonds reduce school district electric bills by 90%

SunPower to install 12 MW for California school district

01.05.2012: US solar products producer SunPower Corp. announced it is currently installing 51 photovoltaic (PV) systems with a combined capacity of 12.1 MW for California’s Mount Diablo Unified School District. The PV systems, 40 of which have already been completed, are being installed on rooftops and shade structures at schools and district facilities across Contra Costa County. The remaining systems will be completed later this year. The 51 PV systems are expected to reduce the school district’s energy bill by over 90 percent, which is expected to save the district more than $3 million a year. The district’s PV systems were financed through Clean Renewable Energy Bonds (CREBs) secured under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, paid through a local, voter approved general obligation bond. … Source: SunPower Corp.; Summary: PHOTON
