PHOTON price index shows sharp drop in module prices

18.08.2012: Solar module prices dropped considerably last week, with prices falling below 60 euro cents per watt for the first time. According to PHOTON’s module price index, the average price of multicrystalline modules on the German spot market fell more than 12% to 58 euro cents (71¢) per watt. The average price of modules produced in Asia also fell to 58 euro cents per watt, after dropping 6.5%. Multicrystalline module prices have fallen more than 46% in the last year, while Asian module prices have fallen nearly 44%. Meanwhile, monocrystalline module prices were down 11% from the previous week at 66 euro cents (81¢) per watt.
