14.08.2012: If Michigan voters pass a proposed 25% renewable energy standard in November, the state could add tens of thousands of new jobs and see billions of dollars in new investments, according to researchers from Michigan State University (MSU). The researchers found that the proposed 25% by 2025 standard could create 74,495 job years in Michigan and could generate $10.3 billion of investment in renewable energy. The Michigan Energy Michigan Jobs initiative requires that 25% of Michigan’s retail electricity sales come from wind, solar, biomass or hydropower by 2025. Based on current trends in the state, however, the researchers estimate the measure would result in just 76 MW of new photovoltaic capacity by 2030.
