16.03.2012: After approving a record $736 million in loans in 2011 for green projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced that it has signed a co-financing agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide up to $600 million in financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Central America and the Caribbean. Toshitaka Takeuchi, energy specialist at IDB’s Energy Division, said the organizations are already considering potential projects, among them photovoltaic (PV) installations.
