Global PV demand shows a sharp year-over-year increase in the first quarter, ahead of incentive cuts in Germany

03.04.2012: According to market research company NPD Solarbuzz, global PV demand is forecast at 6.9 GW in the first quarter of 2012, which represents a year-over-year increase of 146 percent – due partly to installations in Germany ahead of feed-in-tariff cuts there. But demand was down by 35 percent in the first quarter, as compared to the previous quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2011, industry end-market revenues were $35.4 billion, but these are expected to go down to $22 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012 due to a decrease in added capacity and reduced prices.
