Canadian module makers stressed

Canadian module manufacturer Day4 Energy posts net losses in 2011

02.04.2012: The Canadian module manufacturer Day4 Energy Inc. has registered a net loss of 40.7 million CAD ($40.7 million) in 2011, compared to a net loss of 9.8 million CAD ($9.8 million) the previous year, and a year-to-year revenue drop of 60 percent, to 66.1 million CAD ($66.2 million), in 2011. The company claims that the higher loss is due to the significant downturn of the PV industry last year. "2011 was a very challenging year for the entire PV industry. Unfortunately we are not immune to these challenges," said George Rubin, president and CEO of Day4 Energy. For 2012, Rubin doesn’t see recovery yet. "The outlook for 2012 appears to be equally volatile." ... Source: Day4 Energy; summary: PHOTON
