President Barack Obama said he hears the frustration of voters who handed control of the Senate to Republicans in an election that is being viewed as a repudiation of the White House.
Earlier, Mitch McConnell, who is in line to be the next Senate majority leader, offered to work with Obama on areas like tax reform and international trade, but also signaled clashes on Obamacare and energy policy. Obama also cited tax reform as an area for common ground, and he called for comprehensive immigration reform.
"Before the end of the year, we're going to take whatever lawful actions that I believe I can take that will improve the functioning of our immigration system," Obama said.
