Dominion Virginia Power Philip Morris USA solar energy installations Virginia

Dominion Virginia Power (NYSE: D) partnered with Philip Morris USA to host the largest solarinstallation to date in Virginia.

The 2.45-MW solar array will use 8,000 ground-mounted solar panels currently being installed at the PM USA Park 500 facility in Chesterfield County. Standard Solar Inc., a full-service development, construction, integration, financing and installer of solar electric systems, was picked as the engineering, procurement and construction company.

The project is part of Dominion's Solar Partnership Program in which Dominion leases rooftop or ground space at commercial, industrial or public facilities for the installation of solar panels. The energy generated by the community solar projects is delivered to the power grid. The utility also announced more than 400 MW of large-scale solar to be produced in Virginia by 2020. The first 20-MW solar project is scheduled to break ground pending SCC approval.
