Chinese buy in first and fast in Cuba market

10.02.2015: Cuban electronics manufacturer Empresa de Componentes Electrónicos Ernesto Che Guevara intends to start PV module production at its manufacturing facility in Pinar del Río, Cuba, according to local newspaper Granma. The company will use a 15 MW production line provided by an unnamed Chinese company and will produce modules with a power range of 160 W to 300 W. In 2015, however, the company will mostly produce modules with a power of 250 W upon request of local utility Union Eléctrica. The new production line will be installed at the facility by the end of the first quarter of 2015, the article reports. The Cuban government is planning to install 700 MW of PV capacity over the next years. The projects will be financed through unspecified government funds and private investments. © PHOTON
