03.02.2015: Panama’s Electricity Transmission Company (ETESA) has selected five large-scale PV projects through Panama's first solar energy auction, which was held on Nov. 25, 2014, a month later than originally scheduled. The five projects must be online by Jan. 1, 2017 and will sell their electricity output to local energy providers under 20-year PPAs. Compañía Solar de Panama SA’s $20.4 million project will receive $80.20 per MWh, while Panamasolar2 SA’s $20.6 million project has secured a rate of $87.6 per MWh. Developer SDR Energy Panama SA won PPAs for two solar projects, a $9.0 million project and a $3.8 million project. The first project secured a rate of $94.2 per MWh, while the latter was granted a rate of $98.2 per MWh. The fifth project, a $3.7 million PV plant submitted by Solpac Investmet SA, received a rate of $104.8 per MWh. ETESA has not revealed the exact capacity of the five projects. © PHOTON
