05.08.2013: US-based solar products manufacturer SunPower Corp., majority-owned by France’s Total SA, reached »full manufacturing utilization« in the second quarter of 2013, CEO Chuck Boynton said in conference call while discussing the company’s quarterly results. The company, which produced 296 MW in the second quarter, up from 257 MW last year, is considering expanding production on its own or through a joint venture with Taiwanese manufacturer AU Optronics Corp. to meet increased demand for its modules. The company, which currently has a production capacity of 1,200 MW, expects to produce 1.0 to 1.1 GW in 2013, including 240 to 260 MW in the second quarter. SunPower recorded revenue of $576.5 million for the second quarter of 2013, down from $595.9 million for the same period a year earlier. Despite the decline, however, SunPower was able to achieve a quarterly net profit of $4.3 million, a substantial improvement over the $84.2 million loss it recorded last year. This was the first time the company reported a profit since the fourth quarter of 2010. SunPower expects to record GAAP revenue of $2.45 to $2.55 billion for full year 2013. © PHOTON http://us.sunpowercorp.com/about/newsroom/press-releases/ http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/SPWR/2463421555x0x680914/9df259 5f-609f-4541-a713-659e8e7efc75/Q2%202013%20Supplementary%20Metric%20Sh eet%20Final.pdf The complete press release can be viewed in PHOTON's archive using the following link: http://www.photon-international.com/newsletter/document/79194.pdf |
