North American Development Bank approves financing package for 20 MW solar park in California

21.08.2013: The North American Development Bank (NADB) has agreed to lend a special purpose vehicle owned by Spanish solar company Grupo T-Solar Global SA $67.7 million for the construction of a 20 MW (AC) PV power plant in Southern California. The Sol Orchard Imperial power plant will be built on approximately 131 acres of land owned by utility Imperial Irrigation District (IID) in El Centro, Imperial County. The project’s output will be sold to IID under a 25-year power purchase agreement, which will help IID comply with a California mandate that requires publicly owned utilities to get 33% of their retail electricity sales from renewable energy sources by 2020. The power plant will use Yingli modules, STi Norland single-axis trackers and GPTech inverters. Isolux USA will provide EPC services. NADB does not say when the project is scheduled to be completed. In a draft document published in December 2012, T-Solar said construction on the facility would begin in April 2013, with commercial operation being reached no later than September 2013. NADB is providing $311 million in loan financing for eight utility-scale solar projects in California, Arizona and Texas. When completed, these projects will have an installed generation capacity of 96 MW (AC). © PHOTON
