200-MW Wuskwatim hydropower facility nearing completion

TASKINGUP FALLS, Manitoba, Canada 6/27/12 (PennWell) -- The first generating
unit at Manitoba Hydro's 200-MW Wuskwatim hydroelectric plant is undergoing
commissioning, HydroWorld.com has learned.

The US$1.33 billion project, which is a joint development of Manitoba Hydro
and the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, will eventually feature three
generators and will sit on the Burntwood River in northern Manitoba.

Work on the facility began in August 2006, and all three units are expected
to be in operation by fall 2012, the company says.
