Global solar demand to reach 59 GW in 2015, IHS

14.10.2015: Global PV demand is forecast to grow by up to 33% year on year in 2015, according to research firm IHS. The company believes that demand will reach 59 GW this year, up from its previous guidance of 57 GW. IHS has also revised up its 2016 forecast by 2 GW to 65 GW, due to » an acceleration of projects in the United States, ahead of the solar investment tax credit (ITC) expiration.« » IHS Technology already had one of the most bullish forecasts in the industry,« said Ash Sharma, senior research director for IHS. »But due to accelerated and expanded deployment in the United States, as well as in China, India and other countries in Asia, our forecast has increased further.« In its previous outlook released in January, the team said it expected the largest markets to remain China, Japan and the US this year, with China, the US and India being the largest contributors in terms of absolute growth. © PHOTON
