10.07.2015: Nevada-based utility NV Energy is seeking approval with US regulators to buy PV power from a 100 MW PV plant that US solar producer and developer First Solar Inc. is developing in Nevada at a price of only 0.0387 per kWh. According to Kit Konolige, a utility analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence in New York, this will be probably the »cheapest PPA« ever signed for solar power in the US. The 100 MW First Solar’s Playa Solar Project was among the three PV projects with a combined capacity of 440 MW that were recently approved by US Secretary of the Interior Sally under the streamlined permitting process of the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Western Solar Plan. According to Bloomberg, NV Energy also signed the cheapest PPA for solar in 2014. Last year, the company agreed to buy PV power from SunPower’s 100 MW Boulder Solar projects at a price of $0.046 per kWh. © PHOTON http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-07-07/buffett-scores-cheap est-electricity-rate-with-nevada-solar-farms http://pucweb1.state.nv.us/PDF/AxImages/DOCKETS_2015_THRU_PRESENT/2015 -7/3615.pdf |
