Confirmed cases climbing rapidly: New York City had 3,615 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, and 22 deaths as of Thursday morning, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. That was up from 2,009 cases and 11 deaths, as of late Wednesday.
Part of sudden jump reflects scaling of testing capabilities.
Of the Thursday total, 1,030 of the cases were in Brooklyn, 980 were in Queens, 976 were in Manhattan, 436 were in the Bronx and 165 were on Staten Island.
Exhaust of numerous crtitical medical equipment and supplies now firmly in sight, ranging from days to a small number of weeks.
