31.05.2012: Under new energy efficiency standards approved by the California Energy Commission, all new homes and commercial buildings built in California from Jan. 1, 2014 onward will be required to have a “solar-ready roof.” The newly passed 2013 Building Energy Efficiency Standards regulation does not require home and building owners to install rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems, but should they ever want to, they will be able to do so immediately. In addition to the solar-ready roof requirement, the new standards include improved measures for windows, insulation, lighting, air-conditioning systems and other features that reduce energy consumption. The Energy Commission says the new standards are 25 percent more efficient than previous standards for residential construction and 30 more efficient for nonresidential construction. … Source: California Energy Commission; Summary: PHOTON http://www.energy.ca.gov http://www.energy.ca.gov/releases/2012_releases/2012-05-31_energy_comm ission_approves_more_efficient_buildings_nr.html The complete press release can be viewed in PHOTON's archive using the following link: http://www.photon-international.com/newsletter/document/65874.pdf |
