Renewable Energy TrackApril 19, 2011 Bosch Solar Energy AG (PINK:BSLRF),
the solar energy division of the Bosch Group, announced on Monday it had
achieved a degree of efficiency of 19.6% for monocrystalline solar cells
with screen-printed metallisation in 156x156 mm format, which leads to a
record capacity of 4.73 Wp.The degree of efficiency reached by Bosch was
confirmed by the independent calibration laboratory at Fraunhofer Institute
for Solar Energy Systems.In general, silicon-based screen-printed solar
cells achieve efficiencies of between 17% and 18.5%.According to Bosch, the
altered cell concept improves the cell's performance under weak lighting
conditions.Bosch will be ready to launch serial production of the products
based on the new concept in one or two years, a spokeswoman for the company
