TrackApril 6, 2011 Chinese photovoltaic (PV) inverters maker Sungrow Power
Supply Company Ltd has inaugurated its new Ontario-based headquarters
managed by Sungrow Canada Inc (SCI).SCI, a joint venture (JV) between the
Chinese company and local solar power-focused corporation HiFi Solar Energy
Ltd, possesses manufacturing, R&D and technical support capabilities. The
venture intends to invest CAD 10 million (USD 11m/EUR 7m) in Ontario in the
next few years. The first CAD 5 million will be spent on inverter assembling
and testing lines that will create up to 50 green jobs in its Vaughan
facility.SCI's facility, spanning 25,000 square feet (2,323 square metres),
has an annual production capacity of 200 MW of solar inverters. The first
models are 100 kW, 250 kW and 500 kW inverters.The ribbon-cutting ceremony,
held last Thursday, included a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) between SCI and PowerStream, Ontario's electricity distribution
company, to jointly promote solar power development.Founded in 1997, Sungrow
today has annual sales of nearly USD 100 million (EUR 70m). The company is
building a new facility in Hefei, China, and is targeting to reach 3 GW by
