US to add 9.5 GW of large-scale solar in 2016, EIA
4.03.2016: Around 9.5 GW of new large-scale PV capacity will be installed in the US this year, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). This capacity will account for 36.5% of total utility-scale generating capacity that will be connected to the power grid in the country during 2016. Together with natural gas (8.0 GW), and wind (6.8 GW), solar will make up 93% of total additions. The EIA said that 2016 will be the first year in which utility-scale solar additions exceed additions from any other single energy source. The top five states with the largest amount of large-scale solar capacity will be California (3.9 GW), North Carolina (1.1 GW), Nevada (0.9 GW), Texas (0.7 GW), and Georgia (0.7 GW). © PHOTON
