Thanks to the Guatemala and Honduras bid results, Brazil sets the max bids at their awarded rates. Not good for small projects

Brazilian state of Minas Gerais sets cap price of $111 per MWh for solar energy auction

19.09.2014: The government of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais has set a cap price of 260 BRL ($111) per MWh for the next energy auction, which is designed exclusively for solar energy projects, reports Bloomberg. The auction will be held later this year. Through the auction, selected solar developers will be granted 15-year PPAs for their projects. The allocated combined capacity and the exact timing of the auction were not disclosed. The state government, which has already begun negotiations with unnamed solar producers, hopes the auction will lead to the construction of a solar module factory in the region. © PHOTON
