Want to build a house of cards 10 feet tall? Grab about 20 decks and 10 Adderall, and you're on your way! | Shutterstock

May 5, 2020

Building a house out of cards has always been a hobby to some, but an Indian boy recently took the pastime to another level. A 10-foot level to be exact.

Vishnu Vasu, a 16-year-old from Bengaluru, India, recently constructed a 10-foot, 7-inch replica of the Burj Khalifa out of playing cards. The facsimile, which took five-and-a-half hours to build and stands without the assistance of glue or tape, now sits atop the "tallest house of cards" list in the Asia Book of Records. I would assume that list is a lot shorter than the length of the winning building.

I hope they had someone monitoring all the windows and fan switches while he was working. Heck, one little sneeze is all it might have took to topple the whole thing. Everyone hold your breath for the next five hours!

Now, RTO Insider built this email out of energy stories just for you:

  • PJM could support the loss of up to 40% of capacity this summer in a worst-case scenario situation in which COVID-19 spreads among plant workers, the RTO said. Michael Yoder has the details.
  • The economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic will weigh most heavily on utilities most dependent on commercial and industrial load, researchers told a NECA webinar. Michael Kuser listened in.
  • A California PUC proposal would speed the interconnection of microgrids to utility distribution systems in anticipation of the state's upcoming fire season and likely public safety power shutoffs. Hudson Sangree has the story.
  • SPP's Board of Directors approved the first two revision requests stemming from the Holistic Integrated Tariff Team's work. Tom Kleckner reports on that, as well as …
  • … Public Citizen, emboldened by its victory in an affiliate case involving Goldman Sachs, asking FERC to reconsider a ruling involving JPMorgan Chase.

We then have some more news out of CAISO and PJM:

Lastly, we have news from other sources:

  • "Solar, wind energy struggle as coronavirus takes toll," The Associated Press
  • "With oil reeling under pandemic, clean energy looks to capitalize," Houston Chronicle
  • "Critics say R.I. climate council falls short of its mandate," ecoRI News

From everyone at RTO Insider, thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your day!
