Dear harry,

The global economic picture is grim. Following the coronavirus pandemic, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) expects a sharp contraction in global output this year. The years 2020 and 2021 will be lost for growth; global GDP will not recover to pre-coronavirus levels before at least 2022. Risks are tilted to the downside, as a second wave of the pandemic would derail the economic recovery. Delays in developing a vaccine also represent a major downside risk.

Please join Agathe Demarais, Global Forecasting Director, and Ana Nicholls, Industry Operations Director, at our upcoming webinar on June 18th at 3.00 pm BST (10:00 am ET) as we cover:
  • What is the economic outlook for the world's major economies?
  • Are there any bright spots?
  • Will the pandemic prompt sovereign-debt crises?
  • Is the global geopolitical landscape changing because of the pandemic?
  • What political changes will the coronavirus pandemic foster?
  • Which industries will be worst-affected by the pandemic?

There will also be a short Q&A at the end of the webinar.

If you wish to participate, register here.

Yours sincerely,

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)
