Brazil to hold reserve energy auctions for solar and renewables in H2 2016

7.03.2016: The Brazilian Energy Agency (EPE), part of Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, will hold two reserve energy auctions for large-scale renewable energy projects this year, according to local newspaper Boa Informação citing a statement from EPE’s head Mauricio Tolmasquim. Tolmasquim has also said that both auctions will be held in the second half of this year without specifying how much capacity will be allocated for solar and other renewable energy sources. In 2015, EPE held two reserve energy auctions for solar and renewables. In the auction held in November, the agency allocated 1,115 MW of PV power. In the previous auction, which was held in August, EPE selected 31 PV projects with a combined capacity of 834 MW. © PHOTONB
