Brazil's energy regulator sets cap price for November's reserve energy auction

14.10.2015: Brazil’s energy regulator ANEEL has set the cap prices for the reserve energy auction (Leilão de Reserva) that will be held on Nov. 13, 2015. The cap price for PV projects will be of 381 BRL ($98.7) per MW, while the maximum price for winder power projects will be of 213 BRL per MWh. For the previous reserve energy auction, which was held in August and selected exclusively solar projects, ANEEL had set a cap price of 349 BRL: Brazil’s Energy Agency EPE, part of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, has preselected 649 PV projects totaling 20.9 GW and wind power projects with a combined a capacity of 17.9 GW for the auction. Only a small part of these projects, however, will ultimately be selected. In the first reserve energy auction of 2015 ANEEL allocated 834 MW of PV capacity. EPE had accepted 341 PV projects with a combined capacity 11,261 MW for the auction, which ended with an average price of 301.79 BRL ($84.2) per MWh. © PHOTON
