13.04.2015: Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy Eduardo Braga said that the government is planning to create a 20 billion BRL ($6.54 billion) fund aimed at supporting the development of large-scale wind and solar power projects across the country, according to local portal Orm news. The fund will be created with financial resources coming from Brazilian state-owned utility Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco CHESF (51%) and private investors (49%). The fund will be used to pay the incentives for the projects, which would be developed mainly in northeastern Brazil. The fund will be managed by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). The government aims at installing 15 GW of renewable energy capacity through the fund. © PHOTON
