Another large-scale project submitted to the environmental authorities in Chile

16.05.2012: Spanish company Eosol New Energy SA has submitted a proposal to environmental authorities in Chile for a 192.6 MW photovoltaic (PV) power project. The power plant, which would require an investment of about $615 million, is to be located in the northern region of Antofagasta, a region with one of highest irradiation levels in the world. Solar developers have applied to build well over 2,500 MW of PV and solar thermal projects in Chile. To date, however, few solar installations have been completed in the country. Many of the proposed projects would be built on behalf of mining companies that have not been able to expand their operations due to limited access to electricity. Chile aims to increase its share of renewable energy from its current level of 3% to 20% in 2020. … Source: Environmental Authorities; Summary: PHOTON
